Please contact me if you cannot find an answer to your question.
I offer copyediting, line editing, developmental editing, and comprehensive editing services. Please visit the Academic, Business, or Manuscript pages for a detailed list.
Developmental editing is the first step in editing if needed. In this stage, we look at the “big picture” to determine the message and how to communicate it effectively. This stage involves adding, deleting, rearranging text, and other suggestions. It is best to have an outline ready as a base for decisions and order. Because the focus is on the message, grammatical errors are not considered during this stage. A completed rough draft is required to start this service.
Line editing concentrates on clarity at the sentence and paragraph level. Use this service if you don’t need help creating your message but want to ensure it is clear as possible. This service will polish your message more extensively than copyediting and includes two editorial passes.
Copyediting concentrates on grammatical errors, fact-checking, redundancies, and inconsistencies, depending on the chosen level. Use this service if you feel good about your message and are only concerned about grammatical mistakes or possible inconsistences. Although fact-checking is included in some services, accuracy is the responsibility of the writer. This service includes two editorial passes.
Comprehensive editing encompasses all of the above. This editing service is for someone who wants assistance in every area listed.
If you are still trying to decide what service you need, email me, and I'll be happy to help.
Turnaround time varies depending on the scope of the project. I will provide an estimated timeframe in your quote. Rush service is also available.
I accept authors, business owners, other professionals, casual writers, and students. While there are limitations, such as developmental editing services are for nonfiction projects only, anyone who needs editing services is a client for me. Contact me, and let’s talk!
I accept a wide range of clients because I am familiar with many editing style guides:
Yes! And no. We can certainly discuss the type of editing you prefer. It is my top priority to preserve your message and your personality. And I will. However, if you prefer the heavy-handed edit, we can do that too.
Privacy is paramount. A confidentiality clause is included in our contract.
Each editing page has a price range listed. Contact me to get a no-pressure quote for a specific price.
I accept Word documents.
You sure can. Because I take confidentiality seriously, I cannot share the work of others. However, I will edit a sample of your work. Go to the Contact page, fill in the form, and I will respond within 48 hours.
